Day 4
Got up at 8 and started packing stuff. We left Temple Side at about 11 and got a taxi to WangfuJing Youth Hostel - our next stop. It is far less traditional in comparison. Found a room called the boiled water station and we were both hoping this was not their equivilant of a shower. It looked like a hot water tank over a concrete bowl. Luckily we found a normal shower and we are still not sure what the 'boiled water station' is for. Met Ging for lunch (Mets friend from Uni) and went for lunch.
Have to tell you about all the times he has been ripped of since being here. He has only been here ten days longer than us but got in a dodgy taxi out of the airport and paid five times what he should of. A difference of paying 50 quid instead of 10. Haha. He also was in Tienamen Sq and was approached by an art student wishing to practice her english. He agreed and ended up going to a Tea shop and paying a bill for 65 quid for 2 cups of tea and 2 peanuts.
We have also been practicing our bartering skills. We got 24 bottles of water for 24 Yuan - less than 10p each when normally they are 3 times the price. Every price seems to be negociable and the first price they give you can be 10 times what something is really worth.
