My auntie from America recently visited me! I was showing her around the sights and sounds of Tavistock! Yes - people do come and visit far and wide because yes - The moors is probably one of the most beautiful places to be! The wild ponies roaming around and the vastness of it all is so overwhelming. One feels like they are going through a spiritual journey.
I wanted to share to everyone that despite Tavistock being one of the rainest places to live (I do know people that have decided to not choose to live here because of that main factor) the surroundings are oozing with greenery and wild flowers because of it! and I LOVE IT!
I have recently decided to run a half marathon and I must say I have been on a few runs around here and the views from it is breathtaking. I am so lucky to be here!
The village is surrounded by old architecture the square is very beautiful with the Abbey. Of course, most people also come for the Tavistock Pannier Market which is one of the oldest markets around. Walking through the market, one feels like they have been taken back to 18th century!
The walk through the River Tavvy is lovely especially during Spring time when the leaves on the trees are so green I mean you have never seen anything so green and lush before! It feels like an amazonian rainforest minus the flying monkeys and the dangerous reptiles!
If you also get a chance to stay in Tavistock do find a stable nearby and go horseriding around the Moors! it is an amazing experience!
