The reason I'm writing this blog even though I live around this area is because I am exploring Devon & Cornwall and I wanted to share to everyone that beautiful things can be found just outside your doorstep too!
I have always live one of the most beautiful places in the world The Philippines. Beaches, Sunshine and Wildlife was very much a part of everyday life. Yes - why on earth would I swap that for the Cold & the rain! Well to be quite honest I have often wondered that about myself and only recently I have I learnt to love the country that I now dwell in.
The picture above was taken in Cornwall 2 years ago and it was indeed a beautiful sunset. You may often think you would never ever get such beauty in England but here is the evidence!
Yesterday- the weather was torrential rain and gale force winds of 60mph but then I realised this is part of life that I am now living so why not embraced it instead of actually moaning about it and staying at home. I decided with my boyfriend and 2 other friends to head to the beach! Yes - the beach since Cornwall is only an hour away from us - off we went. Through out the car journey - heavy rain was pouring and pouring! We listened to some Lady Hawke and Vampire Weekend to keep our spirits up! Very upbeat! In the end we escaped the dark clouds and came out into the beautiful sunshine. We bought some lunch and decided to head to Hawker's Cove near Padstow which overlooked Rock (where apparantly Jonny Depp and Kate Moss owns a house) The wind was still howling but with our water proof jackets and good ol' wellys we were snuggled and cosy!
The beach was long, white, blue waters and we were shell picking! It was very beautiful. We saw a seagull attacked a starfish! Found a few crab shells they were humongous! Collected some shells :) After an hour, we headed to another beach called Constantine Bay ( it was so beautiful ) There were less than 10 people on the beach because im guessing the forecast was so bad that people may have decided to stay at home!
Another event that happened that did inspire to write a blog about Cornwall was when my friend Charlie said to me that the beaches in England was the best! and I asked her why would she think that after all she has been around the world! She said, " no dangers : sharks, sea snakes, crocodiles,...." this is true!! Although I am afraid of the water (having been taken by a rip tide -thats another blog) she is right you can feel safer swimming in the sea despite the cold! I remember growing up in the Philippines the weekend would consist of beach trips. I remember don't go to far or wear something on your fit you never know whats underneath : sea urchins or something spikey! Yes - beaches are indeed a lot nicer to swim on!
Despite the torrential rain and gale force winds. Yesterday was a really good day! To top off the weekend, we came home and I cooked some stuffed peppers and mediterranean vegetables and some delicious red wine! Another successful weekend gone in Cornwall / Devon!
