Today we had a long 12 hour drive across the Tanami Desert. We watched lots of movies. There was a whole lot of nothing out the window, although we did see a lot of termite mounds.
When we finally arrived at Wolfe Creek camping ground it was about 7:30 local time (we had been driving through the dark for a couple of hours!)
The road was very bumpy (dirt road almost all of the way). It was so bumpy that we lost a driving light and the aerial on the UHF snapped off from the constant rattling from the corrugations in the road.
We stopped at Yuendumu to get petrol - it was a little outback aboriginal community. Quite an interesting place for the kids to see.
Mum and Dad were quite surprised at how much green grass and trees there actually was along the track - not the red sand desert you see in the movies.
