Today started with a spot of fishing. Paddy got a great surprise when he reeled in his line and he had caught a turtle! Isla then also caught a turtle, and Kade caught his first fish.
We then went for a drive to Lake Argyle. Stopped at Durack homestad and learnt about the Durack family who were the early pioneers of the area.
Lake Argyle is the largest man made freshwater lake in Australia. When the lake was built in the 1960's it was only supposed to be a small lake, but by the 1970's the lake had become so big that the original Argyle Homestead (home of the Durack's) had been flooded - the original homestead was taken apart stone by stone to be rebuilt where it is today. The lake takes up 1000 square km.
We drove to Ivanhoe Crossing and drove through the river to the other side - it was great fun.
Took in a bit of the local scenery and stopped at the Hoochey Distillery to taste some of the locally made rum - that will put a hair on your chest.
