Happy Fathers Day!
Dad got some nice French toast for breakfast before we headed off to the QANTAS founders museum. We learnt about the beginnings of QANTAS in Winton/Longreach and how the company eventually become an international airline.
We had a tour of the Beoing 747. Our guide showed us all the parts of the plane inside and out including all the under carriage of the plane with the aerials, navigation sensors, fuel storage areas, engines, wheels and the wings. We also went upstairs inside to see the "first class lounge" - guess its probably the only time we will ever see it! A quick look at the cockpit as well.
Next we went into a 707 which was the first QANTAS jet in Australia. It has since been stripped out inside to be used as a luxury private jet - the most famous guest to be aboard - Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5!
We saw many other old planes and the original QANTAS hanger where they made some of the planes. It was a great day and we learnt a lot.
