Happy birthday to me! Wake up late, despite wanting to be up and about early! After 24hrs of travel we deserved it though really!
We get ready and go out for lunch at 'Madison' at the Four Seasons Bangkok. On a very nice table with extremely attentive staff. Feeling posh! Starters - Dan had tuna tartare and Sara had the aspragus, poached egg, bacon and truffle foam.
For mains we 'shared' (on separate plates!) a 24oz Wagyu beef steak, with some chips and beans with bacon. Very nice but I'm sure it's not wrth the money we - Dan - paid.
Then they brought out a birthday cake which was huge and very chocolatey. They gave us leftovers in a posh doggy bag box, but it remained in the hotel fridge sadly.
Back at the hotel, we fell asleep and woke up in time to get the underground to the train station for our overnight train to Chiang Mai. We were in First Class on Train 1 and had dinner in the dining car, which sounds fancy, but it wasn't!! Very nice food though! We had a few beers and then a few more and fell asleep about 1am on a squeeky, bumpy, stop-start train journey!
