Well my original plan for today's blog was going to be this:
Today we went to the beach.
However a few more things happened that I should probably explain...
We ventured out for our first breakfast on the island (included) unfortunately I wasn't aware that the crawling ants were also included. So we ordered from the kitchen instead!
Next we went to the beach to RELAX and were bothered by several different people trying to sell is foot massages/scrubs, scarves, tattoos. (I actually think I might go back tomorrow for the foot scrub...) the sun was doing that sneaky think where it hides behind the cloud but still catches you. Let's just say we got a bit burnt. However, seeing as it's the first bit of colour we've had all holiday we got a bit excited!
After the beach we went back to the hotel for a swim, some lunch (oh and some beer of course). Following lunch we moved to a more 'horizontal' seat near the bushes. Whilst Laura went to put something away in the room I heard an almighty clatter.
A snake fell from the bush and landed underneath Laura's seat.
Well I did what any self respecting, modern woman would do. Grabbed my stuff and stood on a chair. :-) unfortunately Laura chose this moment to return. Laura has a phobia of snakes. Laura asked me to pick up her towel (on the chair ABOVE THE SNAKE) and her bag (which was in the floor NEXT TO THE SNAKE). I can't for the life of me think why I refused point blank! Snakes move pretty fast you know!
Anyway after this ordeal and after the offer of an older couple lending us their motorbikes (after our several beers and snake shock we decided the best answer was a polite no thanks), we strolled off for an after sun massage.
We were not aware that after sun massage meant minimum clothing in a room where the blinds didn't necessarily meet. Let's just say me and Laura saw more of each other than is generally required. However the aloe Vera massage gave us a cool relief from sun burn for an hour. (One hour for £8!)
Our day ended with a lovely ribeye and some wine on the beach (kind of needed a break from beer). After our late night Good Samaritan trick of helping some guys pull a drunken girl out of the sea we decided to reward ourselves with a pancake roti.
All in all a good day that could not be summed up in 'today we went to the beach'.
