Return to South Korea ...
As many of you know, my time in Seoul in '04 - '05 was, maybe, the hardest time in my life (before first year law). When I left Seoul, I swore I would never go back. It has taken me 2 1/2 years to sort out what happened in Seoul. ... and if you've spent time in Seoul you know what I'm talking about. So, when I had the opportunity to go back, I thought hard about it, and decided I needed to go back and get closure for this hostile relationship between Seoul and myself.
So, I got on a plane and flew to Seoul to spend my reading break there. To visit with close friends, shop, and hang out. I arrived Sunday morning and headed straight to my old church to meet up with friends. It was so surreal.
I headed down the stairs of the subway station and it all came flooding back. I knew exactly which stops and transfers I had to make and even which subway car I had to be in to make the most efficient transfer.
A group of friends went for lunch and then I spent about 6 hours shopping by myself. Exactly what I needed!
Monday: headed downtown Seoul for some good market shopping. and that is when the snow started! and headed to the bathhouse in the evening for a nice 2 hour scrub and massage!
Tuesday and Wednesday were spent mostly studying and Thursday was my 12 hr take home exam.
Thursday evening = movie at the cinema.
February 29 - Friday
Lunch at Namsan with another group of friends and then off to Yongin to see other friends.
My friend in Yongin wanted to celebrate the leap year, so we had a cake, beer and wine. Did some shopping, and March 1 was the National Holiday for Korea defeating the reign of the Japanese.
Saturday - headed back into Seoul to meet more friends in Apgujong, to have lunch, shop and head to Edae (Ehwa woman's University district). We had our nails done, did LOTS of shopping, had dinner, and finished up the night with some nice cocktails at our old favorite Jazz club. Paganini.
Sunday morning - got up early - got packed - and headed for the airport.
