Milene in Africa
Just adding some info on my placement: I'll be working Monday to Friday, 8am to 3.30pm at Living Word Primary School. It is a private school that started in 1996 as a non-formal school with the aim of rehabilitating school drop-outs, orphans and children from destitute families. Now it is a registered formal school with 700 pupils! Also, I'll be staying with a Kenyan family with Jacklyne, her two young sons Brian and Raymond, and their house help, Betty. Breakfast is tea, bread, sausages and drop scones (pancakes). Dinner is ugali (cornmeal/polenta), rice, beans, chapattis (Indian bread), green grams, meat and veg. I've also just learned to count to 10 in Swahili, the official language...
CHALLENGE: does anyone know how to say LION in Swahili?
