MORAINE LODGE 2 :Rubbing the sleep from our eyes we peered out of the window to check that it wasn't all a dream!
Minutes later we climbed into our canoe on the lake, life jackets on and paddles in hand. It was barely 7am as we glided over the mirrored water watching the peaks appearing out of the rising mist. A surreal experience. We made a good skilled crew.... Apart from me climbing in backwards.... We cut the water smooth and clean.
After a beautiful buffet breakfast in the glass covered atrium dining room , we left for Lake Louise, hoping to arrive before the hoardes of people.
Mission successful, we managed to find a park in the car park! It was a stunning view and backdrop but I found even the early crowds detracted from the natural ambience. Best thing was a new shirt purchased at the stunning Fairmont Hotel which graces the beginning of the Lake with regal majesty... Built in 1910.
We had wangled a deal to stay another night in dreamland atop the faraway tree. Our new room was not ready until late afternoon so we headed for Banff.
Had a super day. We went to the. Rockies museum which was interesting and entertaining. We visited Bow River and Falls. Shopped.... But we could waIt to get back to Moraine.
Amazing new cabin, bigger room , king bed with lake and forest vistas!
We replaced the washing fiasco with a great talk on Grizzy bears by the local parks naturalist ... The rest as as last night.
