Still not my picture!!
Emily left Australia yesterday, and is now in Singapore and Malaysia. So I am on my own now! Eeeeeeeeek!
On Sunday Emily and I set off for Myilly Point, a National Trust precinct of houses that survived Cyclone Tracy, and walked past it and round it and under it and never found it! We gave up looking, and had lunch in the casino of all places (it's scary how many people are just sat infront of the machines pressing buttons looking bored - although we did see a man who had won $700!). When we started walking back we found Myilly Point! After all the walking and looking for it, it wasn't that interesting. Oh well. We went down to Stokes Hill warf in the evening and had fish and chips, and watched people throw bread into the water. It was dark and there were lights shining in the water, and we could see flat fish that were swimming about eating the bread. They were so lovely to watch :) There was also a man and woman singing copious amount of Fleetwood Mac to a backing track for our entertainment... It was Em's last night so we had a posh cocktail too ;)
So yesterday Emily left and I explored the CBD a bit more. In the evening I went to the backpacker bar with my roommate Jenny and did the pub quiz. There were 2 general knowledge rounds and ten ABBA songs that we had to name. Thanks to my Dad playing endless amounts of ABBA in the car all my life I could name them all and Jenny and I won the quiz! We won $75 worth of alcohol at the bar that night, but we were just doing it for a laugh and were about to leave so we passed it on to another group. I am very proud of winning the quiz though, thanks Dad!!
Today I went to the museum and art gallery, and saw all the displays that Bill Bryson saw :) Including a big exhibition on Cyclone Tracy, which was a bit scary! I had better go because someone is waiting for the computer. Tomorrow morning I am flying to Cairns to start my epic trek down the East Coast :)
