we are now in new zealand! and are making the most of such luxurys as bread that is not as dry as the bolivian salt flats and cafes that dont just sell chicken and rice or serve you snake without you even realising! and also we have the luxury of having crunchies from shops and even real sausages!! weird!
we arrived at aukland international airport at about 4 in the mornign local time! so as you can imagine nothing was really going down in aukland at that time! we managed to bargain down a shuttle bus to a reasonable price to take us intop the city centre who droped us off by the macdonalds in the city so after having a couple of breatfast sandwiches we had a look on the internet to see if our campervan was ready to be picked up! it turned out that it wasnt ready for then but we could pick it up in the morning! so we checked in to the nearest hostel and stayed for the night!
in the mornign we got a expensive taxi to the warehouse where our campervan was! but this campervan wasnt just any old run of the mill camper van! there was something very different about this campervan! it was a spaceship! after signing all the papers (including max having to sign a form aclaiming that he would be the chief austronaught!) we set off in our space ship which was a bright orange toyota people carrier called aquarious! complete with dvd player cooking utensils a stove and a customised space ship frisbee! after setting off we drove to a supermarket to get our shopping for the 5 days we would have our spaceship for.
that night after a day of driving we stopped just outside taupo by a river and settled down for a very cosy night watching coach carter on dvd. after pasta tea cooked by me for the driver!
the next day we woke up and drove into taupo needing to buy some music for our spaceship as my ipod is not good enough for max (micheal jackson is apperntly not an idol in everyones eyes!) so we baught a kings of leon album from a bargain bucket (which we would have drilled into our heads after listen to it a 1000 times throughout the rest of the journey and we now know all the words!) so we drove all day down through napier in the intention of making it to wellington the next day! so again we setteld for a cosy night in with a dvd!
the next day we drove to wellington and got to an internet cafe so we could book our ferry across to picton the next day. so it turned out some of our friends(worm haighy and kerr) from home where in wellington at the same time and where heading to the same campsite as us! so we met up with them and had a good old fashioned catch up and a few beers and just a touch of jagermister.
so i am currently in an internet cafe writing this blog while waiting for our ferry.
hope all is good with everyone whois reading this (just azz)
