Hi from Bangkok. Alex has now flown to Cambodia for his Ankor Wat adventures, he will back on saturday and with a new blog.. Had an easy trip up from Ko Phi Phi, took the ferry to Phuket (just made it after waking up 10 mins before it was supposed to leave.. damn buckets) then flew into Bangkok. We quickly found a flight for vernon to fly to Siem Riep, the town nearest to Ankor, and then I took a local bus into Bangkok city. Very strange to be back on my own! Love it. Loving travelling with a mate tho too, everythings cool, no argueing about anything, just easy going happy days travelling!! Arrived at the infamous south east asian traveller hole that is Ko Sahn Road.. every time I come back here theres more and more hotels, stalls and backpackers.. well 'flashpackers'.. the type of traveller who will only stay in air con plush hotels and only fly everywhere... ok ok so we did fly back to bangkok rather than the overnight 14hr bus, but a little luxury now and then is ok! Plus we have not got long until Bali, (18th) and vernon really wanted to see Cambodia and Ankor Wat, and I totally agree.. seriously incredible place. Bali will be a hell of alot cheaper, as we wont be travelling around much, just chilling out in a cheap guesthouse and surfing hopefully everyday.
So last night I checked into an old place I knew from a few years back, Sidthi Guesthouse down some alley off the Ko Sahn Road, bog standard room just about fits a bed, huge useless ceiling fan, and toilet down the hall. About 2 quid a night. Spent a while on the net last night uploading pics and videos from the past few weeks, and then after successfully escaping the club touts, tailors, ladyboys, tuk tuk drivers, beggars, pissed irish, and shopping swedish etc, I took one of the more mellow sideroads for an explore, found a street stall and had some delicious huge portioned chicken fried rice for 20B.. (70B is one pound..!). Sat back and people watched for a bit then hit the sack for some much needed sleep! Room was a sauna when I got back, but luckily still locked. Bed is rrrrreally really uncomfortable, but was so tired from the insane time in Phi Phi that I somehow slept for 13 hours! Happy days woke up and got some musli and fresh fruit, then took a tuk tuk to the MBK centre, eventually... the driver was trying to get me to take his sister shopping with me.. Shopped around and eventually haggled down a good price for my new camera.. ended up getting it from an authorised seller, didnt fancy a potential fakey, got a decent warranty etc.. worth it as I'm a photo addict.. and really wanted a similar waterproof one in time for surfing in Bali!! All about making a video, xmas day, santa hat on, surfing! Back in Ko Sahn now, gona go get some more cheapo food then maybe look into the cooking courses.. :) Every restaurant shows films, so prob waste a few hours doing that later. Hopefully going to go to a national park somewhere north of Bangkok, it has the huge waterfall from 'the beach' movie, fancy checking it out. Right, sorry for the long read, I have time on my hands (and sweat). Hope ya not too cold back home! Prob update again once in Bali. Kapuhn Khrap, Mat
