So, back in Brisbane now after an eventful last week or so!! We flew up to the Whitsunday Coast, and checked into the Beaches Backpackers hostel, after meeting my Brother Josh at the bus stop in Airlie Beach. He had been there for a few weeks now, was great to see him! We pretty much got straight on the 'Goon' (cheap cask wine- love/hate relationship with the stuff) with the Irish girls and two Danish in our dorm, played some drinking games, then went out clubbing in Airlie Beach. Ps dont try to explain any drinking games to drunk Irish girls unless your name is Gaving, Patrick or Bradley. Had a great night I think then crashed out in our dorm.
Standard matvernon offexploring error or oversleeping and getting too drunk the night before we have toi check out, and we missed the bus to the whitsundays, so we packed our stuff like maniacs and caught the first taxi to the port. Caught the 'Camira' catamaran with time to spare and proceeded to sleep on the boom netting out front. Boats+hangovers=bad. Hair of the dog happy days the boat had free VB, wine, and as much coffee and tea as you could drink. Must've had about 7 coffees that morning. We slowly came around and realised we were on a stunning modern catamaran sailing around one of the worlds most beautiful places. At around midday we were coming around Whitsunday Island and got our first glimpses of Whitehaven beach glistening in the distance. Its consistantly in the top 3 beaches of the world and always voted the best in Australia.. I was happy! We dropped anchor about 100m from the beach, and donned our stinger suits to protect us from the summer box jellyfish amongst others. Swam to the beach, and the first sounds we heard were the squeaking of feet as we admiringly took our first steps onto this pristine pure silica white sandy beach. The guys on the boat jokingly but kind of seriously advised us to put extra suncream on our under chins as the white sand reflects so much sun! Tanning from the ground as well as from above! We sat down speechless for a bit dazed and still a bit hungover, looking out at the crystal clear blue seas, tropical islands and the incoming sea-plane!! We eventually got used to our incredible surroundings and usual beach activities commenced.. football and the standard 'try to get a great picture whilst jumping in the air'.. which we did! no USB at this net cafe but pics up soon, they are incredible. We hung around at the beach for an hour or two then boarded the boat and had a delicious all you can eat BBQ. We then sailed to a good snorkelling spot and I saw my first moray eel. Thought I was pissing it off a fair bit by swimming up so close to take photos, but apparently it always looks angry as it keeps its mouth open to feed or something like that. Nakered and slightly sunburnt we retired to the boat and just drank copious amounts of VB all afternoon before alighting at Long Island resort. We checked into our dorm and had a nose around, before gathering our thoughts and another jug of beer at the pool bar. Met some Aussie guys on their day off and a Swiss girl and some more goon, and the night was a fun one! Ended up with the Aussies getting fired for sneaking into the kitchens at the end of the night and being caught by the busy body teachers pet worker.. so we just drank the rest of the goon in the tv room before crashing out.
Morning came, and strangley not hungover, myself vernon josh and the swiss bird Margerite went for a nice hike around the island. Took in some amazing panaramic views of the islands, saw some big ol spiders and then jumped straight back into the pool. Chilled out all afternoon, then took the 5pm ferry back to Airlie Beach. Had a great night out at the local nightclubs, then spent the rest of our time in Airlie relaxing until we flew back to Brisbane.
Brisbane : Error.
City homeless Aboriginal's : Thieving b******s. Settled back into the City Backpackers, took a shower etc, whilst we were gone, pikey Abos broke in a went through all our things, and nearly everyone else in rooms' things too. Few guys were sleeping and thought they saw someone but didnt raise the alarm.. massive annoyance. Had my sunnies,mp3,vernons wallet, and most importantly, both our passports!! Feeling pretty pissed off, after giving our statements to Bruce Young the most chilled out copper ever, we used some Boon advice and stepped outside for a beer. We went to the main high street Queen St and watched the premiership game that was on. Woke up that morning, got our police criume number from the station and relaxed all day as it was a Sunday and the Consulate was closed. Woke up Monday morning and went straight to the consulate and they were really helpful, a bit of charm and our passports will be ready in 4 days!! We decided to go to Byron and be back in Brissy by friday to pick them up.
Following morning we took the bus to Byron Bay. Man was it good to be out of the city!! We met my girlfriend Jose Mourinho at the Byron Bus Stop and checked into our dorm. Great to see her on her travels! We went STRAIGHT to the beach, took my surfboard and had a great afternoon surfing and sunning ourselves. Went out that evening to the bars and clubs then hit the beach for some fire poi shows. The next day was spent entirely on the beach, was a great day. That night we had a big BBQ at the hostel, some more goon and then out partying again. Checked out the following morning and spent the whole day on the beach before catching our 5pm bus back to Brisbane. Said a brief goodbye to Jo, will see her again tomorrow in brissy before we fly to Sydney.
So tomorrow we go and collect (hopefully) our tempory passports, pay the annoying fee, then catch our flight to Sydney, very excited about revisiting my old Bondi flat and cafe!! Going to be great to show Alex around Sydney, its a fantastic place. We have 2 nights in Sydney, so probably one day beach in Bondi one day sightseeing the city, then we fly to Santiago in Chile on Sunday! More then!!
