On wednesday evening i flew to Cambodia by myself to the city of Siem Reap. The main purpose of the trip was for the ancient temples of Angkor Wat, something i have always wanted to do from quite a young age. I got on the back of a moped and was taken to a hotel just off the main road, it was a really nice place with a very spacious room and hot water etc. i got settled in and walked around town on my own, i walked up the main strip and sat down at a local road side table and ordered some food, there were no other tourists around and it was great. the next morning i got the moped all the way to angkor, i started my tour and looked all around the temples, it was really really hot. i had a guide book and disposable camera and some water and that was it. had some lunch about 2ish, then the last temple of the day was the main angkor wat, cant really describe what it was like walking down the main walkway towards it, you really have to do it to appreciate it. it was just coming upto sunset so i got some cool pictures, by 5.30 i was pretty shattered having started at roughly 9am. went back to the hotel and chilled out for a bit. then my driver mohar came and got me around 8pm he took me to a local restraunt where there was no menu for tourists (because they dont go there) then after he took me to a cambodian massage place. the full body massage was amazing! so much better than in thailand. after that i went to a club and got chatting to a very pretty local girl.................... the next morning after about 3hrs sleep ;) i was off to angkor again to look around the rest of the temples, i only lasted til about 2pm, when i had to go back to my room, i slept all the way through to 8am, 17hrs of sleep!! pretty crazy, my flight was at 1.30pm so got my stuff and went to the airport. I really enjoyed my time in Cambodia it was a cool experience to travel alone, i learned alot about the culture and the people, Cambodia is a very poor country and the people are always looking for money from the tourists, this is most probably the reason why they are so friendly, although i would not like to believe that entirely. sorry about the pic of the orangutan it was the only one this website has for cambodia?!?! oh yeh, riding around on the back of a moped no hands with the crazy cambodian driving is too much fun!!
