Hola from Faro (south Mar Del Plata), meaning Lighthouse, theres a lighthouse here.
Really enjoying the life here, everyones ultra chilled out, and the beach is great. We are living in a guy´s annex/nice shed in his front garden. Its about a 10 min walk to the nearest stretch beach, but everyday so far we hop in the back of Christians or Martins truck (surf instructors on the beach), and go few minutes drive further down the beach to the better surf spot. First few days here we had fantastic surfing conditions, but the winds have changed recently and its been flat but its always 30 odd degrees and blue skies, so just been absolutely kicking back and relaxing in the sun!
Really good to be away from other travellers for a bit, our road is dead quiet and we get some much needed sleep at english sleeping times. Back in the city, we'd be awake til 4 normally even if we werent going out. Argies only stop eating dinner at about half1! We enjoyed living that way however, especially Vernon who is totally nocturnal anyway!
So we are staying here til Saturday at the moment, then taking an overnight bus to Buenos Aires arriving sunday morning, returning to our old hostel and watching the Carling Cup Final. Then probably having a tour around the Bombonera- Boca Juniors Stadium on Monday, followed by a chillout day or two before our 28 hour bus into Florianópolis, Ilha de Santa Catarina, Brazil!!! Cant wait to get there, will write more about the island when we arrive. Basically the whole west coast line is a surf beach, with lagoons behind a skinny bit of land, and huge sand dunes backdropping it etc. Its where they hold the Pro Surf Tour Brazil section.
So for now, we will wake up earlish, go to the beach all day, come back, whip up some pasta and meat-ah i need to tell you about the meat!-, sink a cold one then hit the sack by 10 or 11ish to the sound of Argentinian radio, which is pretty good by the way, all old 80s music (power love ballads, simply red etc) on most channels-love it- and one channel just plays house music all night! Right up our street. Makes up a little for our stolen mp3 players :)
THE MEAT
huge huge bag full of mince, 6 pesos, a quid
4 insanely juicy tasty sausages 4 pesos, nothing
steaks, dont even get me started on the steaks they are just so big and all under a pound, ah i cant actually talk about them, mouth is actually watering, i know what im having tonight! all about doing them rare ive learned. vernon got some sort of green stuff to put oh oh origana/o to add for flavour, good touch. Got some soy sauce in too finally for my stir fry´s.
right off back home for breaky then to the beach, looks still flat so no surf, but Brazil is supposed to be really really perfect and consistent, cant wait!! Ciao for now X MAT X
