Today is the last day of my trip my flight late in the afternoon meant o could get one last photographic opportunity, this being Oradour a village situated about 30km away from Bussiere. The history of Oradour is one of horror, during WWII The Germans in retaliation to the French resistance capturing an SS general marched into Oradour and destroyed the village, round up all the men in the square and shot them, as if that wasn't enough they rounded up the women an children in the church and torched the place. Standing in the ruins of what was once a prosperous village is eerie and chillingly silent. Inside the church the remnants of the church bell is lying in a heap of once molten metal. The tragedy that was bestowed onto this village was in fact a mistake. As the
Germans were sadly in the wrong village.
