Time is going quick - America is flying by!
We are currently at Trudy and Lindas house in San Francisco (well actually Redwood City just outside of San Francisco!). For those of you that dont know - Trudy is my grandads (Teds) brothers wife and Linda is her daughter. We also met up with Lee (the other daughter) and Katie (the grandaughter!)
They are all so nice and its so good to finally meet them all after all these years - it was really interesting to chat with them about Casey (my grandads brother!)
Ted - From the stories i've heard, you and Casey were very alike! The older pictures of him could easily be you! And Trudy says he used to love cowboy films and would always watch them but often fall asleep - sounds quite familiar! I also read about yours and Caseys early life before coming over to England - that is some reading! You went through a lot - i got quite sad reading it. But we all agreed - you and Casey were both very brave and we're very proud to be related to you!
Aside from meeting the family - we did lots of touristy things - we took a boat cruise which went under the Golden gate bridge and then all around Alcatraz which was cool. We also went down to the Ocean where the beach is and had a paddle down there. There is a place called the Cliff House there which is quite famous which im sure i've seen in a film but cant remember which one! We went onto Fishermans Wharf and had some food with all the family. Trudy also took us to a really good steak house where we all had goood food. Ooh we love the steak!
Today we went on a bike ride over the golden gate bridge which was so tiring! It was such an effort to actually get up to the bridge. I am sore in many areas now. But it was very much worth it as the views were amazing and it was so good to ride across the bridge.
We then walked up the steepest hill ever known to man i think up to Lombard which is apparently the windiest curliest (are they even words?) street in the world. It was very cool but a nightmare to drive down i imagine. We also went on the famous cable cars up and down the hills and hung off the sides. Was fun.
Later we headed over to Castro which is the gay village and where all the nightlife happens - Liz got pestered by a weird man who all of a sudden took a picture of us all. We then headed back on the bus to Redwood City and sat around with Linda and Trudy watching TV which brings us right up to date! They have been very good hosts and one day hopefully i'll come again with the rest of the family to visit!
Tomorrow its the train to San Diego! The last of our big train journeys woo hoo x
