Woken up early again by the noisy trucks....and then the rain started! So we jumped out of bed and quickly packed up camp and hit the road headed north. We drove through lovely rolling, green hills and old towns with many old stone buildings before getting into much drier, stonier country.
We stopped off in Terowie for a look as Matt's grandparents lived here once and his great grandfather was once the station master.Terowie was once a bustling town due to the railway. It was a change of gauge station so everything had to be changed from one train to another.Nowadays Terowie is almost a ghost town.
We thought we would just drive until we reached the sun and then stop for a night......well we ended up driving all of the way to the Flinders Ranges! We pulled in to the caravan park at Rawnsley Park Station which is just south of Wilpena Pound. We had a nice little campsite with lovely views over the ranges. It was a lovely sunny afternoon so we spent a few hours setting up camp and putting up the camper awning and cooking dinner - this was the first time we have had to cook for ourselves! And we didn't really have to cook much because we used Matt's mum's spaghetti sauce that she had made us!

Well not much sleep again last night! We were having a lovely sleep until the wind started. The wind was really gusty and just seemed to get stronger and stronger. We got up at 3am to pack up the awning that we had spent so long putting up only hours before, as the wind had blown it half down and it was flapping around. We also packed up most of the camp as it looked like rain.We couldn't get back to sleep after that as the wind was so strong we thought the camper was going to break or get blown away. The wind continued all night.....and then the rain started in the early hours of the morning!Steady, soaking rain that looked like it was going to hang around all day but thankfully around mid morning it stopped and the sun tried to come out.
So we jumped in the car and went for a drive around the Flinders Ranges National Park.We drove north to a little town called Blinman were we stopped for lunch.Homemade pies - yum! After lunch we drove around the park through Brachina Gorge and Buneyroo Gorge and back to camp. The Flinders Ranges have amazing geological features - so if you are in to geology, it's a good place to come!
Campfire bbq for dinner tonight - yum!And beautiful mild weather!
Hopefully we will get a better sleep tonight. After two noisy nights in Adelaide and not much sleep last night, we are a bit weary.
