Fantastic sleep last night!Yay!So we bounded out of bed and packed up camp and drove in to Wilpena Pound where we did a 3hr hike up to Wangara lookout for views over the pound.Nice hike, lovely weather and nice views.
Then it was a carpark lunch before hitting the road to Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary in the Northern Flinders Ranges, another geologically significant area. Our first dirt road!180km's of dust and corrugations!Although it wasn't too bad.
Arrived about 4.30pm and setup camp.Nice views in a very dry and dust place.

Washing day today! And supposedly relaxing and catching up on some jobs but not according to Matt who couldn't sit still and decided that we were going for a drive. So off we went, through the rocky hills, bumping along the rocky road to a gorge (whose name I have forgotten) where we went for a hike through the river bed and over the rocks.Matt found a water hole and an echidna but no yellow-footed rock wallabies.
After the gorge hike we spent a few hours driving back to camp on a 4wd drive track. Our first 4wd drive experience for this trip! The track was a bit rough with a few tricky spots but nothing too difficult. There were a few nice views along the way but not much else to see. There are a number of 4wd tracks to do but they don't actually lead you to anything nice or interesting. They are there for the sake of going 4wdriving.Anyway we arrived back at camp just in time to get the washing off the line before the rain started - yes more rain but thankfully only patchy showers.
Quick dinner tonight of two-minute noodles and toasted sangers before doing a bit of packing and then heading up to reception for our astronomy tour. There are a couple of observatories at Arkaroola and it's quite a remote spot so we thought it would be a good spot to see the stars up close.Unfortunately the tour never happened as the girl who booked us on the tour told us the wrong time and wrote the wrong time on our ticket so we were an hour and a half too late!Thankfully they gave us a refund but it was still disappointing as were looking forward to it.
