On our first day in San Francisco we visited Lombard Street, the world's crookedest. The films make it look a lot bigger than it really is. The next day we went to Alcatraz with a friend we met in Fiji. We took the audio tour which was really good and meant we could go at our own pace. It was really interesting learning about the history of the prison and attempted breakouts. We also met a former prisoner there #1422 (AKA Darwin Coon). He wasn't very talkative but we bought his book and he signed it for us. After Alcatraz we visited the biggest Chinatown outside of China for a great Chinese, something the 3 of us dreamt about in Fiji.
A few days later we hired bikes to explore more of the city. We visited Ocean Beach, Golden Gate park and rode over Golden Gate bridge to Sausalito where we caught the ferry back. We also saw a man and dog swimming in the freezing water being followed by a pack of seals which was cool.
We were up early the following day for our day trip to Yosemite NP. It was a great trip and included all the main attractions, Half Dome, El Capitan and Yostemite Falls. We also did a short hike to see the giant Sequoia trees which WERE massive. It was a really beautiful place and we could have spent longer exploring.
On our last day we walked to Alamo Square to check out the Painted Ladies Victorian houses to take one of the most taken photos in San Fran. That afternoon we indulged in some retail therapy before our flight to Las Vegas.
