Karnak temple is amazing for several reasons, it's almost as big as all the other temples we've seen put together.
It also has some unique features which were very useful for Egyptologists to understand how they built these temples. There is still a mud brick ramp intact that they used to access the high points of the temple for construction and an unfinished column which showed that the columns were built roughly first before being chiseled down to a work of art.
Today was a massive day for sightseeing so it is great to have a few hours to chill out in a 5 star hotel before making the 12 hour trip on the (slightly dodgy) sleeper train.
P.S: We were in the (5 star hotel) bar and recognized some music that was playing softly in the background. It was the Neighbours theme song!
To top that off it was followed by Home and Away, A Country Practice and The Neverending Story!
When we asked the waiter what album they were playing his response was:
'some classical music'
Hilarious!

I am definitely feeling the full Egypt experience. My skin, hair and mouth are as dry as they have ever been but what a place! The hotels are all 5 star, covered from floor to ceiling in granite and marble but then you walk outside and it is completely the opposite with rubbish thrown all over the ground. It's all been fantastic, even the low lights!!
