I decided to leave Amma's Ashram after one week there. I took a boat to Alleppey and saw some o the backwaters that Kerala's famous for. The backwaters are like rivers and kanals weaving their pattern along the coastline of Kerala with just a thin stretch of land dividing it from the sea.
The boat trip was really beautiful and I was watching the people living just by the riverfront. They were going about their everyday life, women washing clothes in the river, boys having a swim, girls walking home from school with their big backpacks and men standing in the typical canoe-like boats and poling their way across the river.
There were birds flying after our boat and I could nearly reach out and touch them. Other birds were perched on small obstacles sticking out of the water or sitting in perfect rows on the fishing nets sticking out of the water.
I stayed two nights in Alleppey in a really nice guesthouse and shared the room with my roomie from the ashram one of the nights, which was nice!
It was really really hot and humid there so I didn't really do much more than walk around town to get some food.
Now I'm heading for the cooler climate in the mountains, going to the tea plantations in Munnar and see a friend of mine in Kodaikanal.
