Took bus to Cambodia 8am and we all rested our weary booze ridden bodies along the way. Baldy was panicking that she might get stopped at customs with her cheesey feet, as she was certain it was illegal to import dairy products from country to country. I assured Baldrick that if she moved fast enough she would be able to leave a lingering smell with the person behind her and they would get the flack for it and we would be back on the bus in no time. All went smoothly and our VISA's set us back 25 US Dollars. The bus traveled along a dusty track, known to the Cambodians as the superhighway, into Phnom Pehn. The views were amazing, as the road was lined with little wooden and tin shacks with small children splashing around in the stagnant quagmires that lined their humble abodes. It brought back fond memories of days gone by when we used to roll around in the peatbogs in Skye. We arrived in Phnom Pehn at 3pm and lay down for an hour as the potholes and dodgy driving had been somewhat tiring. We took off thru the market to find some place to eat and as we strolled, we saw small kids being bathed in dirty rotten water at the side of the road whilst rats ran by. This is something you rarely see back home unless you live in the Gorbals but something you quite quickly come to accept as normal. We sauntered past as if it was the norm and headed off for some good scran and a few beers. We couldn't find anywhere that looked like a happening place to be for the evening so we opted for some milkshakes, which made us feel terrible, and were left trying to find our way back thru the market to our hotel.

We all woke at 1230pm and the boys had missed their bus already. Laney and the Bald hailed a local tuk tuk driver to take them to S - 21 which was an old school where Pol Pot used to execute and torture his people, and it has now been transformed into a museum. Back at the hotel we had an afternoon nap ( as one does ) and grabbed the boys to go for some dinner. We went to a bar called Walkabout and ordered fish and chips and sat down to watch the Luton v Liverpool game. The bar was a right sleaze hole full of old white guys touching up young Cambodian girls. It is hard to understand but if these guys were not there giving these girls money then the girls (if not dead already) would be begin on the streets and not be able to feed their children. It is a vicious circle we were glad not to be a part of.
