Uruguay. Its like being on holiday again! yay! Colonia is an old Portugese town and very pretty hence all the pics. not so cheap tho. Its mad the beginning of Dec and I have been sunbathing, sorry. We got another scooter to zip about on and explore. Tried some morcilla (black pudding) yum! no really! Took a little trip to a place called Fray Bentos. The home of the pie. Due to some mis calculations the museum was closed.
We decided to head up to Punta del diablo (devils point) After 2 more busses we arrive at this tiny fishing village. Perfect! Coloured wooden houses litter the shore line and rocks spill into the sea. No street lights so its pitch black at night just the light of the moon bouncing off the sea. We rent a cabin although 'cabin' doesnt do it justice. we have a window stretching the entire width and I reckon the best spot on the beach. The only complaint is the plague of woodlice that creep out at night! Then the other night there were some mosquitos inside and by morning my face had 15 or so bites!
Nothing for it, with the supplied deckchairs we hit the beach. We go looking for musscles but all we get is wet. Its nice to be able to cook again and the shopkeepers are friendly even if its still hard work. We make a huge pot of sangria and a paella - musscles. We didnt bring enough cash and there are no atm's so the owner of the hotel takes Chris to Brazil and back to get some! I really enjoyed it here but cant help thinking its not ever going to stay like this more and more like me arrive everyday. I guess I am just lucky to have been here.
So 2 more busses via the capital Montivideo (nothing much here and it smells like wee) back on the Buquebus ferry back to the lovely but smoggy Buenos Airies. I am sad to leave my little cabin and the woodlice!
ps. left a bag in montivid bus station so if anyone is going just pick it up at Rutas del sol
