Fireworks and bells went on until after 1:00 although we stopped eating grapes after 12 chimes. In the night it got really cold; 3.5C when we get up.
Both vans get serviced and we check out of this pleasant site at 11:40 and €16/night. We take a short detour into Burgos passing around the El Cid statue and having another look at the sun lit cathedral towers before joining the A62 towards Salamanca.
There is some wonderful scenery as we reach the high plains; massive fields of bright green grass with low, rolling humps. Small towns of cuboid, ginger stone nestle in the plains and here and there the high ground is topped with a monastery or church.
We stop for lunch just south of Valladolid before climbing to even higher plains, with small, low grey clouds almost in touching distance, but behind them a chaotic mixture of every other cloud in the book.
The climbs and the very strong headwind have eaten into our fuel so we stop at a windblown service station where diesel is €0.98
The last few miles into the university town of Salamanca are peppered with showers and just after we find the camperstop the fancy clouds drop their contents.
Behind us the cathedral is illuminated and when the rain stops Ali +Grete wander through the park and find there is also a lit up Roman bridge.
