Much cooler this morning but quite bright. We leave this peaceful aire at 10:00 heading for Burgos about 140 miles away.
The first section is quite industrial but soon we are twisting alongside rivers or climbing through woods. Some hills are are extremely steep and we are into a head wind which makes Mary*Lou feel a couple tons heavier. The scenery varies from rocky hills through tunnels to green pasture to flatland with mountains in the distance. A quick coffee break in a service station is also convenient for refilling LPG cylnders in both vans.
We pass Pancorbo, an attractive old town of ochre stucco and pantile rooves.
Later we have a short section of free toll road but we still have to take a ticket. As we enter the toll gate the ticket machine rises to 3 metres the adjusts itself to the height of our cab - ingenious.
Traffic is light as we enter the edge of Burgos and check in to the city campsite just before 14:00. It's a friendly and attractive little site despite its winter clothes [bare trees, tyre marked grass etc] and as soon as we are hooked up everything that needs charging gets plugged in.
Nick and Grete take the bike to town for a recce while we stay in to do some washing and use the wifi to catch up on news, emails and banking. One email, passed on by MMM magazine, was from a reader of our Portugal feature who saw N+G's van in one of the pictures and recognised it as he was the previous owner.
N+G return with loads of useful stuff from Tourist Info to help with our visit tomorrow.
