We left Lake Tekapo and realised we had a massive journey awaiting us so we decided to stop off at a town called Twizel for some supplies and munchies!! After loading our fridge up with food, drinks and snacks we hit the road looking for the perfect stop for lunch. We travelled for hours thinking maybe we would never find our dream lunch stop UNTIL we spied a sign up ahead indicating a secluded area along a calm lake called Ohau. We both looked at each other and nodded and we swerved the scooby van onto the track parallel to the lake. We travelled 17 Kilometers until we finally found the perfect stop area. This stop area may not have actually been a actual stop area still we fought our way through the wilderness and made camp. We quickly whacked on the BBQ and set up the table and chairs before any police or angry locals could intervene. Luckily no one showed up and so we were left in peace to cook our grub and munch away whilst gazing into the magical lake. As soon as we were finished we jumped straight back onto the road to continue our quest in finding Queenstown.
When we arrived in Queenstown, we were pleasantly surprised to find our camp site was located just outside the centre of town. On our journey into the campsite we noticed a skyline gondola which was calling our names. We decided to head straight to the skyline to watch the sunset! Whilst lining up for the skyline we were talked into signing up for the Kiwi Haka experience. We jumped straight onto the skyline and headed up to the top of the mountain where we started to test the alcohol from behind the bar whilst overlooking the town with the sunset. It wasn't long before we were called in for our Haka experience. The show was just over 30 mins long however Sophie was called onto the stage to help with some dancing and I was dragged up onto the stage to perform the Haka dance (yes there are photos of us on stage). Once we were released from the maori people, we headed back to our camper van for a well earned nights rest.
