Day 5
We had an excellent time in Beijing, We visited the Great Wall which was spectacular - you dont realise how long and steep it is until you see it!! It has been so hot out here that the great wall was tiring!. The Ming Tombs were great and visited a few museums. It was extrremely difficult to arrange transport into Shanghai, we ended up flying as all trains were booked out for weeks. Shanghai has a big exhibition on which seems very popular with all chinese. Though here now and we are in a really poor side of Shanghai (a real culture shock). We are in a dorm which sleeps 12, not to our standards!! We are staying in what feels like the slums of Shanghai. As you step outside the smells hit you!! There is a street market on our doorsteps selling live animals in cages and rotten veg! We also have a wild rabbit that wonders the hallways. However the city of Shanghai is amazing, massive buildings, massive street with designer shops and posh restaurants, We are going to spend the afternoon and evening on The Bund (The famous harbour). We have also seen an amazing acrobatic show, really worth a watch.
