Today we visited the temples around the larger Angkor wat which we are saving for sunrise tomorrow - we leave the hotel at 5:00 am to join a thousand others doing the same.Hopefully the sun will rise, Megan, our Holiday Fairy is guaranteeing it.Tonight we had a lightening storm, and a few showers off and on during the day.It was around 34C with 2000% humidity, we were all dripping with sweat - tonight is laundry night, no getting another day's wear out of these clothes.

Our first stop was the north gate of Angkor Thom - climbed the east side of the gate, half way up I felt a sting on my left foot, damn ant, tried to get it offbut the b***** would not let go, I let out a shrike as he took a piece of my foot.Day one, first bite…damn why is it always me?

This Temple has a north gate called the Elephant gate, East - Ghost gate or Funeral gate, East-Victory gate, West - Execution and South is the Trade - these days it is all tourist gates.
