World Travelling with Mark And Lilly
We decided that it would be rude not to go snowboarding as we were in the capital of the south islands premier resort. So we booked up a 6 day inclusive package, hotel, ski passes, hire, transport and lessons all for around 300 pounds. Not really a bargain but I (Mark) had not been before at all on the snow so we went for it. Queenstown is in the middle of two resorts and we have the choice of the two with our package. The last two days we have been snowboarding at the area known as "Remarkables", a really nice friendly place with all the felicities around. Lilly being a snow snob, having been boarding and skiing from an early age remarked that the snow being only around 80 cm, was s***. She said that if this was in France they wouldn't even open the slopes, but I however was more than happy with the coverage.
Well the first day, having never even stepped onto a snowboard was an experience. To cut a long story short, got the hang of the board within a few hours and was getting my confidence up a little. So i decided to try the more changeling slopes, this was a mistake which i am still living with at the moment. Starting out was fine, but after a little and more and more speed which i didn't know what to do with, i ended up arse over tit, hitting my head on the ground, and landing on my ribcage at about what felt like 30 mph. I ended up winding myself and couldn't move for about 15 minutes.. That knocked my confidence for the rest of the day!!
Today was day three of the package and my boarding skills are coming on leaps and bounds, i am linking turns and boarding on the blue runs pretty good!! maybe black by the end of the week?? I let you know...
