World Travelling with Mark And Lilly
Hello from raglan, we have been quiet recently as there is not much to say unfortunately... quite boring the past week. last time we wrote we were in New Plymouth next to Taranaki volcano. The last night we were there, parked on a car park in front of the beach a few kmters away from the city. That night we were woken up at 1 am by 15 teenagers with three cars, in NZ you are allowed to drive at 15 and you do not even need insurance for ur car. The boys decided to damage their cars and did spins and daughnuts and driving like crazy on the carpark, next to our van. after a while ( a lot of noise and shouts) one car hit the hill behind our van and broke the radiator, the car could not move anymore and was stucked behind the back doors of our van. They shouted at each other for breaking it and we thought that they had stolen the car and would set fire to it!!!!! they left the car and used others the same way. at 2 am, quite scared that they will leave the car behind our van and we will not be able to drive off or reverse, we phoned the police from our mobile phone, hiding in the dark in the van...
15 min later, a boy started to kick our van with his feets and shout at us, I got so scared thinking we would have to pay to repair the van. Mark was tempted to go out and confront him but they were 14 others...so he left it
Sundenly they left thanks god, and our van was not damaged!!!! at 2 am, we drove off to a campsite and slept in front of his gates as it was closed..... quite scary night though..... unfortunately, there are so many boys racer in nZ!!!!
We then spent three days in Gisborne surfing and relaxing. we treated ourselves to a lovely restaurant for once. After driving along the coast and not finding waves, we went to Raglan, one of the best left, to enjoy surfing again. We ended up a week there as there was swell most days and long peeling waves. cold water though....
Nothing special, we are looking forward to going in oZ now, too cold here and too quiet.... I need to meet more people!!! flying to oZ next saturday, anybody recommends anything in Auckland?
