Left Home Valley Station and continued along the Gibb River Road to a station named Ellenbrea which was about another 2 hours west. Very quaint little place that was a great place to stop for morning tea. They made the best scones ever, hot out of the oven with heaps of jam and cream they we're the biggest scones I have seen for some time. They also offered bush camping along their waterhole and gorge. With bellies full (over full) we continued on with Drysdale Station as our next stop for fuel and probably camp for the night. The condition of the Gibb River road was great, corrugated in parts but like a freeway in comparison to the Tanami.
We arrived at Drysdale early afternoon which looked nice with a shady area with meals and a bar. Fueled up and met a young guy on the register who was from Emu Plains. After checking the road condition up to Mitchell Falls decided to push on up to King Edwards camp ground. This road was rougher and more like the Tanami with corrugations that you would literally trip over if you were to walk. The turn off then onto Mitchell Falls was a un maintained road and things got a lot slower. Had to cross the King Edward River that you could see would be very tricky soon after the wet season. Arrived at camp soon after around 5pm and quickly set up and got the fire and dinner going.
In the morning we plan to pack up and do the 2 to 3 hour drive to the Mitchell Falls camp ground and spend 2 nights here and do the 4 to 6 hour walk to the Mitchell Falls.
