Nice easy 3 hour drive from Uluru to Kings Canyon, Sue drove most of the way. Sue was feeling pretty pleased with herself after solving a problem with the wheel balance on the car. On the way to Uluru the wheel balance had gone and we had a horrible vibration through the car. I assumed one of the weights had dropped off a front wheel and thought I would need to drop the car into a tyre shop on the way back through Alice. Sue decided to get under the car and have a look and the back wheels were caked with dry mud on the inside of the rim. We scraped it all off and bingo, problem solved. Well done Susie!
We set up camp at the Kings Canyon Resort camp ground and had an early night with a movie. No fires allowed here.
Got up on Sat morning and with bacon and eggs under our belts decided to tackle the 4hr Kings Canyon rim walk. This was spectacular and so far our favorite place. The track was very steep in places and although we got back absolutely stuffed it was well worth the effort.
Had a snooze in the arvo and then a few jobs to do to get ready for our departure tomorrow. Needed to change the dust seals on the tailgate of the camper as we were getting dust in. Bought the gear I needed from Alice previously and successfully removed the old seals and installed the new ones which we're a different shape and a little thicker. Unfortunately when I closed the tail gate the angle at the top couldn't handle the pressure and decided to break off. In hindsight this flimsily angle was probably the reason the dust was getting in in the first place. Have decided to get back to Alice in the morning so I can go to Bunnings and buy the tools I need and some stronger angle to do the job before we head off for another 2000km on dirt roads. s*** happens!
