This morning we decided we'd head to Pearl Harbour. At the harbour there are 4 or more large memorials that you are able to visit, the main memorial there and the one we visisted is the USS Arizona. Personally I (Mark) find it difficult to explain the experience and feelings of the visit, but came away learning a lot about the tragic event and how it all unfolded. I also wish I could upload some photo's of our visit but since I'm typing this up on mum's iPad i can't =/
In the arvo we decided to head down to Waikiki beach. It's a beautiful place to chill on the beach or go for a surf, the water was crystal clear and the waves very friendly. We decided to hang around until sunset and we were just wow'd at the sight while listening to a local band play on the beach. (you will need to see our photos & video)
Once the sun was down Leah & I decided it was time to visit our first Man Vs Food restaurant Mac 24/7!!! =D
It is located at the Hilton on Waikiki, and what a fantastic place to eat!!! Everything on the menu looked and read like it would just blow your taste buds! Leah in her MVF fanaticism decided to go with the Elvis Pancake! In the words of the kind waiter "you know how big they are right?" Leah responded with a cheeky grin and a smile "MVF is why were here." The waiter came back without he biggest plate of pancakes I've ever seen!!! Crikey these things were HUGE!!! (for some reason that last sentence just doesn't do them justice.) Even though Leah had only ordered a pancake the chef had decided that anything less then 3 pancakes wasn't enough, so he added layers or bananas, bacon and syrup to the mix. After finishing my large burger that I could hardly fit in my hands I gave Leah some help in trying to finish off her dish but there was just too much. There wasn't one person that walked past our table that wasn't WOW'd by the size.
Unfortunately (as you may have read in Leah's facebook,) this time Food won the challenge. We had a slow walk back to our apartment and greated our beds with a very full tummy. Tonight is our last night in Honolulu as we leave in the morning for the Big Island!!!
Hopefully we will have access soon to a computer that we can upload our photos to here for you all to see.
