Why on earth did we let our travel agent book us a 6.00am flight? I can't actually believe I agreed to this early morning start which meant being up at 4.15am! The flights from Vagas to Atlanta and Atlanta to Buffalo were rather normal, nothing to report here except for the loss of time and sleep. Oh and the freakin b******s broke Leah's bag. We landed in Buffalo and picked up our car... this time a Nissan Versa (American version of the Puslar) and we head off straight for Toronto to pick up Loz on our way to Candace and Rob's house. It was a nice drive over some large bridges and lakes to Toronto and after crossing the border into Canada and losing our mobile internet, which meant if we took a wrong turn then we were unable to recalculate our trip on our GPS. We finally made it to what we thought was Loz's place but weren't too sure as it said Lawyers Office on the front. Leah needed to make a phone call to her Nan for her b'day so while she was doing that I decided to give Loz a ring on another public phone to see if we had rocked up at the right place. Lucky for us we had the right place otherwise we would have been in some strife. So we met up with Loz and Jarvis, and headed on our way to Candace and Rob's House.
We arrived at Candace's to meet 2 bounding greyhounds Duke and Daisy. These friendly dogs reminded me so much of our old dog Tessa, and appreicatied our affection. Rob had massive BBQ prepared on his sweet 4 burner BBQ he has on back patio (can't wait to add one them to my collection!). We then kicked back to an Awesome Canadian BBQ dinner with Steak, Chicken and salad on offer! =D. After a few Canadian Beers and Ciders we all sat down for a game of Apple to Apples, not sure if you guys back home have played this game before eh? But it involves a heap cards with nouns and adjectives. Each player has 7 noun cards in there hand. One player turns over a adjective card and you have to match the best noun you hold in your hand. The player that then turned the card over gets to choose the best noun that matches the adjective, whoever owns that noun card wins the round. We had a heap of fun and laughs before we hit the sack finally at 2.00am.
We woke up only to say goodbye to Rob as unfortunately he had to work... So the rest of us headed down the road for an awesome omlette breakfast. We then headed straight into downtown Toronto for a scooter tour around the place, which included the Steam Whistle Brewerey, The Historic Distillery District, a stack by Candace, The University of Arts Building and the CN Tower. The Brewery was situated on a really cool site, of an old steam locomotive turn-house, so not only was the free beer good but the site was sweet to check out. While in the Historic Distillery District we thought we'd have a bit of fun and took a really cool Panarama Picture you can now find on Facebook and our blog and after a refreshing drink from the local coffee shop we continued on our scooter tour when...oh yeah did a mention a stack by Candace...Poor thing! Leah and I both thought that if anyone of us was too fall of our scooters it'd be one of us, but unfortunately Candace got her tire stuck in a tram line before toppling over! I am glad to report that she didn't do much damage, just a few scratches to her hand and knee. After returning the scooters, mostly in pristine condition we were feeling a little hungry so we decided to head round the corner and check out a place called Big Fat Burritos. And yes, you guessed it, they served us big, fat, unbelievably innexpensive, deliscously tasting burritos. After a big fat burrito it was time to check out the CN Tower from the top. Candace was real trooper though as we completed the rest of our journey to the CN Tower and climbed all the stairs the get to the top! Well the stairs to the lift, which takes only 59sec to get to the top of 103 floors. Just to note the CN Tower was until last year, the tallest building in the world so it is safe to say it is the tallest building I've been in, even taller than the top of the Eiffel tower eh? =D Before you go up the lifts they make you go through these air blowing security cabinets (Leah and I thought looked similiar to those Hurricane Simulators we saw back in the US.) It's safe to say they are a very unique experience in themselves... after all the trouble we finally made it to the top and the view was epic, you could even watch the baseball game going on next door (BlueJays v. Redsocks) and after a few silly photos over the glass floor we ended our tour of the tower, happy to survive yet another high heights experience Leah was happy to be back on the ground. Unfortunately by this time it was time for us to to leave. So after our fairwells and a half hour of watching Loz's crazy cat Zoe it was time for us to hit the road as Leah and I had to make it to Niagara Falls eh!
We got to Niagara around 11.00pm and after finding our hotel we went for a quick walk down to the falls. When we got there they were a sight to be seen, all lit up in rainbow colours. After a gazillion pictures, the lights changing colour, and some wet spray from the falls, eventually the clock struck tewlve and with that the lights went out. We decided it was time for us to quickly grab some food, lucky for a late hour pizza place otherwise we would have been stuck with candy and crisps from the servo! Finally hitting bed around 1.00am, we got up again early, around 6.00am (who really needs sleep anyway!) so that we could head down and see the falls during the day only to have the weather be really miserable on us (overcast and very foggy and misty at the actually falls) but still good to see them. So after some more pictures it was back on the road as we had to cross back over the US border and make our way back to buffalo as we had a plane to catch. Just our luck there had been an accident on the highway to the airport that morning, so again we were stuck in the familiar US traffic jam, this time however, we decided to take some avasive action using the trusty GPS to navigate our way round the traffic and to the airport with plenty of time to spare. After having to go through some serious security at the airport and having a bite to eat for breaky it was time for us to board the plane to New York.
