Up early in the morning for a tour to where else but THE GREAT WALL we went to the Mutianyu section of the wall which is 90km NE of Beijing. When we arrived and were walking up to the cable car (well we couldnt be bothered walking up the very steep hill) we ran into a gaggle of very pretty ladies and one of the chaps on the tour remarked jokingly "is there a beauty contest in town" not realising it was all of the contestants from Miss World! we kid you not it sounds so bizarre but it is true. We saw Miss England, Miss N. Ireland (who was very friendly and happy to speak to some Brits) and Miss Wales but couldn't track down Miss Scotland. Marks favourites were Miss Israel and Miss NZ. Anyway back to the wall we got the cable car up and on our ascent we were instantly asked if some people could get their photos taken with us (I guess they thought Jane was one of the Miss World contestants; or maybe they hadnt seen anyone with such white legs). The wall was fab to have a stroll along and take some pictures we also had a wee dance and got asked to have hundreds of photos taken with Chinese people who were all really nice; some people just took sneaky pictures of us. Jane got asked to have her photo taken shaking hands with a Chinese chap; she would make a good polititian promoting UK-Chinese friendship.
After the wall we went to a Jade factory.
We then went to the Ming Tombs and went into the Ding Ling tomb which is where the emperor Wanli is buried.
After that we went to another Silk factory (Bush had been to this one) but no silk worms to stroke.
