Thursday 24th September
We made the most of the free breakfast and filled up again!
We then went and caught the Seabus over to North Vancouver to meet Jane (family friend). The Seabus is a catamaran that takes about 8mins to reach North Vancouver and leaves as regularly as every 10mins, as frequent as buses!! A lot of people seem to use it and it was a good journey as you got to see more ships and snazzy boats – including the boat owned by the partner of Bill Gates – very nice!
We met Jane and her brother drove us to the bottom of Grouse Mountain where we got the Gondola up to the top. Grouse was different to the others we have been up as there was more to see/do (touristy). We got to see two grizzly bears who were orphaned called Grinder and Coola. They were so cute and lovely to see, yet you couldn’t help feeling sorry for them. Grinder was a bit of a poser and loved being photographed. We went up in a chair lift to the peak of the mountain where the views were impressive of downtown. We were above the clouds – like in our own world! Once back on the main section of the mountain we watched a lumberjack show which was very funny! The two guys in it were and had been champions at lumberjacking.
We then sat out on the terrace for lunch whilst overlooking the city/downtown. The clouds were starting to clear so we were getting a better view! While in the gondola, you travel over where 2 wolves live. Unfortunately for us, they were on the opposite side of the gondola each time! As Jane’s brother hadn’t arrived, we popped up to see them. They were very sweet looking, almost like 2 dogs although I’m sure they were much more aggressive! Jane’s brother dropped us at a little market by the seabus station which we mooched about in and indulged in a smoothie before heading back to downtown.
The rest of the afternoon was spent chilling at the hostel, chatting to our Aussie room mates and on the internet in the library. Both tired again, but also had bits to do online. The library is a snazzy looking building and has some historical resemblance. Didn’t manage to upload at much as we would have liked on the blog, but will catch up on it soon hopefully!
