As you can imagine, the food in Thailand is varied, colourful and above all hot! Sometimes you just need to take a step back and relax with something a bit milder to give the southern softy constitution a rest. Isobel raved about a place called The Art Cafe so we ventured in and it is definitely a one off.
With a menu more akin to a Brighton Deli, the selection is amazing (I'm not sure where they get it from). From organic spring roles to lentil burrito's, there's an abundance of healthy gorgeous food. The atmosphere is so relaxed it's almost horizontal with music coming in the form of Beuno Vista Social Club and a spattering of Parisian random jazz - nice...
You're never short of light reading as it doubles as a library (as well as a wellness centre), and is the place for yogi's far and wide to frequent. Like most of Thailand, you're met with a smile from ear to ear and Sam at The Art Cafe is a case in point. I don't think he ever stops smiling and although the conversations are at best 30% understood on both sides, he's a wee diamond.
It doesn't seem to matter that everything takes at least 20 minutes to arrive or that the tables have 6 and 8 legged locals scurrying across them - this is the perfect detox for body and mind.
