From Halong Bay we went back to Hanoi for a night before heading down the coast to Hue. Sarah and Casey were heading up to China from there so I had to say goodbye to them, I was really sad to leave them as I'd been traveling with them for over a month. The got me a card and a photo of the four of us which nearly made me cry! The other Sarah was staying in Vietnam so she came down to Hue with me.
We got an overnight bus down to Hue and arrived early in the morning. I didn't manage to get much sleep on the bus as we were sat near the front and I was terrified by the driving! We had a couple of hours sleep and got up to see the Citadel. We got back to the guest house had a shower and got some Vodka. We had quite a bit to drink before heading out to bar as we wanted a cheap night.
We went to a bar just up the road from where we were staying and decided to put our name down for pool. Both Sarah and I aren't the best pool players so when we had to play doubles against some locals we didn't really stand a chance. But this didn't put us off, after losing very badly we put our names down again, however this time we asked if we could split up and each play with one of the locals to make if fairer. They agreed and a long night of pool began. We got talking to a group of people in the bar and after Sarah and her partner lost she decided she was tired. Not wanting to go home she decided to sleep on one of the guys laps, Matt! I continued to play pool as it was winner stays on, considering I'm so bad we were on for a long time, it says a lot about how good my partner was! I got to the point where I had had enough, I'd been playing all night and we just couldn't seem to lose no matter how badly I played, in the end I had to beg my partner to let me stop playing!!
The next day we got up really early and went and met Matt, the Aussie from the night before and his mate Will. We hired moto's out, not being able to drive I didn't dare attempt to drive one myself so got on the back of Sarah's. We rode out to a tomb and as we were riding a local man rode up beside up and said that he would show us the way in exchange for us speaking English to him so we followed him. He took us to a couple of tombs and then invited us back to his house for some green tea. We went back and spoke to him for a while and had some tea before setting off to a pagoda.
When we got back we decided we wanted to go for a swim in the pool that we could see from our balcony. We sneaked in as it was for residents only and had to lie that we were staying there so we didn't have to pay! We went out for some food and a couple of drinks that night but got a relatively early night as we were getting a bus the next day.
The following morning we got a knock on the door to say the bus was here, we were pretty much packed so went down stairs. We paid for the room, went out to the bus, put our bags and said goodbye to the guest house owner, for some reason he decided to thrown his arms around me and give me a huge hug, I was a little surprised to say the least!!!
