arrived in cambodia on 2nd dec at 9am and it was already 28 degrees. as soon as you step off the plane you can feel it in the air that it is a chilled out relaxed place. We stayed at Jasmine lodge which is only 2 pound 50 a night each and that includes breakfast and free internet! we booked a room but when we turned up they said they were full so put us next door in there uncles place.
the first day we went to the floating village which was a bit of an experience. there was only 2 of us on the boat and it only cost 5pound each.....as your probably guessing its very cheap in cambodia. There was a floating police station, a floating supermarket, school, basketball court! there was little kids boating round in little tin buckets with snakes as if they were teddy bears. the snakes were for the tourists! the river where it currently was will eventually disappear and the boat driver was saying once the water has gone people use it as a main road, was hard to imagine people using the area as a road. we bought a gift for some of the local kids....bought some noodles from the local supermarket and the boat driver got mobbed when he was trying to hand them out! was a sight to see haha. one little boy of about 2 or 3 ripped them open threw the noodles away and started to eat the powder that you get.
the 2nd day we went to see the Angkor temples which are thousands of years old. they are amazing to see and there are lots of them. they recommend about 3 days to see them temples but after 1 day we were all templed out haha. Siem Reap was very cheap for getting beauty treatments done, so we treated ourselves everynight to something. It was nice being pampered for a while. We hired bycycles for the day and had a little ride around.
next stop Phnom Penh to get vietnam visa
