Hello from the land of the 3 pin plug just like home!!!!!
No rain today so off we went with our trusty MRT card. We have gone at a much slower pace today as we were curled up in bed for 10pm totally exhausted last night.
We executed our plan perfectly with our first stop being Clarke Quay, then a short walk to Boat Quay where we took a ride on the Singapore River to check out the skyline and some of the history behind the river. The boat ride took about 1 hour and our skipper was a small man who took a shine to Mel and I and kept taking photos for us. He even let me steer the boat for a short while, not content with this I got my picture taken with him as well. The whole trip was thoroughly entertaining and good fun!!!
As usual it was hot and humid, but not as bad as yesterday so we took refuge in the Hard Rock Cafe for a while and I added to my pin badge collection at the same time.
From here it was back up Orchard Road to take the MRT back to Little India, as we had to visit Laender Street bus station (when I say bus station I mean a portacabin in a car park!!!) to book our seat on Tuesday's bus to Malacca in Malaysia. A 5 hour journey for 5 english pounds, what a bargain!!!
From here we headed back to the hostel to sort out our accomodation for Malacca and Kuala Lumpur, then Mel slipped back into her old ways and had a nap!!!!!
We are in such a good location for bargain shopping and food so off we went this evening once all the streets were lit up in search of a bargain. Alas the only thing Mel would part with her money for was washing powder!!!!!!
Then it was down to the serious stuff finding food which we did with relative ease once we squeezed past the 6000 people that were congregated on the roadside. Our choice for this evening was Indian again (when in Little India) Mel had a chappati plate with lentil curry and I had the South Indian Meal served on a banana leaf. We ate with our right hand only as is traditional and the food was gorgeous, we got a few smiles from the locals which was nice as they appreciated that we were trying their way of dining.
Made our way back to the hostel for Tiger Time.
Lots of Love
M & M
