Well Guys
Here we are yet another country and it's Singapore.
We arrived late last night after a superb flight with Singapore Airlines, their hospitality was amazing. They kept the wine coming and we were both full after the meal, which was a first!!!
Anyway here we are. After a little lie in this morning we got showered after working out where the switch was. The hostel is only 7 pounds each a night so we didn't expect much. Although they are all friendly and it is in the middle of Little India, more of that later.
We got ourselves this funky card that you just swipe to access the underground (MRT) and it deducts the credit, so no messing with coins!!! Our plan today was to work from top to bottom, Little India to the harbourfront so our first stop was the Orchard Road stop to have a look at the stalls along here. It is the main shopping district and you can buy absolutely everything here but we refrained for now.
While we were here we headed the other way down Bras Basah Road to the world famous Raffles hotel. We went around the front and asked the doorman if Mel could have her photo taken with him and he obliged. He is the most photographed person in Singapore!!!!
From here it was straight around to the bar for a Singapore Sling, it was after midday!!! We sat down and ordered 1 each and they were delicious and so they should have been at S$50 (17 pounds) but it's something that you have got to do. We just had the one before checking out some parts of the hotel that we were allowed into.
From here it was back on the MRT and a stop at Clarke Quay for a look around by the river, we were going to have a ride on the river but decided to save it till tomorrow so just had a look around the shops, Martin it has a Hooters!!!
Again back on the MRT and down to the Harbourfront and then the cable car over to Sentosa Island. This place is a theme park and a place where you can visit the beach and relax. There are lots of things to do but we just took it easy and rested our feet for a couple of hours. Then it was back on the cable car and across the harbour to visit the Tiger Time Exhibition to see how Tiger came about and how it was brewed. It was such a high tech tour with 3D and moving platforms with a refreshing beer at the end and a souvenir glass (more stuff to send home!!!)
Then it was back on the MRT for our last journey of the day back to Little India, where they are preparing for Deepavali and all the streets are lit up and they look fantastic. we stopped off for an amazing curry to try and revive our weary bodies before heading abck to the hostel for Tiger Time!!!!
Singapore is so clean and tidy and feels so safe, the only problem is the humidity, as soon as you step out of your air conditioned room you are wetter than a sponge in a swimming pool!!!
Thats all for now folks will be in touch again tomorrow.
Lots of Love
M & M
