Hey guys! So I guess when I wrote last I told you about the whole leopard scare. It has been absolutely nuts, frustrating and amazing all at the same time. I left Than Goan in the mountains and now I am in Dehradun aka "Doon". Than Goan was so beautiful and everyone was really nice up there, I definitely miss it. Dr. Paul was the doctor we were working with and he was really nice and explained everything to us. He works in Than Goan 3 days a week and hikes to other clinics on the other 2 days. Then he goes down to Dehradun (where I am right now) to stay with his family for the weekend. So we saw some pretty nasty infections and some sick people, we also went on an herbal walk where we learned about all of this ayuervedic "natural" (sp?) medicine that he prescribes to his patients. I almost got bit by a dog with rabies, it sucked. Then on Saturday we went on a 5 hour 90 degree uphill hike in the mud with leeches all over us. Yeah I was freaking out. Anyway we hiked to this mountainous town called Mussoorie where the British used to stay to get away from the heat. So it's like a little European-Bavarian like paradise with a gondola and some other cute stuff. You should Google image it for sure or look at my facebook pictures. So then we were going to hike back and said forget it and paid 12 dollars for a 2 hour cab ride back to Than Goan. Best 12 dollars I have ever spent. I left Than Goan on Sunday morning and headed down to Dehradun in this rickety ass jeep without any doors; we had to stop like 5 times to make sure my luggage didn't fall out, or in Hindi that it was "tik hai". So now I am at the Mehta's house and it is a pretty nice place for Indian standards. I still have to heat the water for showers and we are still eating rice and veggies for 3 meals a day but hey it's India right? The chai is amazing so I really can't complain. We had our first rounds of clinicals today at Dr. Prem Nath's house and Dr. Gandhi's hospital. Dr. Prem Nath is like almost 100 years old and he is an acupressure/puncture reike specialist. He taught us all about the different channels and points he uses to keep the flow of energy going. He is amazing. Then we went to Dr. Gandhi's "hospital" there are like 6 beds, definitely not in Kansas anymore. In Dehradun everyone stares at you, EVERYONE CONSTANTLY honks their horns and it always smells like cow poop and rotting garbage. If anyone wants to send a grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup it would be much appreciated!!!! I hope this gives you a feel of what life is like here. Sorry I can't load pictures onto this website but I will keep trying and in the meantime just join facebook! Okay I love and miss you all so much!!!!
