Marchy's Latin American Adventure
After an overnight bus journey from cusco we arrived in Huacachina, a small town situated around a lagoon surrounded by desert sand dunes, less than 100 people live there. Wow it was so hot and sunny!! The hostel we were staying at did THE biggest pancakes I have ever seen - a foot long filled with fruit and then covered on chocolate sauce mmmm they were so good!! The main reason for visiting here is sand boarding, we went on a dune buggy ride which stopped off at 4 massive steep hills, we were given a snowboard and laid on it and then pushed off the edge. Ha it was SO much fun - went super fast but ooof did it hurt - we had massive bruises on our thighs when the board went over bumps and then landing on a hard board!! Was worth it though. Whilst we were there we visited the Ballestas Islands, poor man galapagos they're called. We saw so many birds, including Humboldt penguins (in Peru!!!) and lots of sea lions!! During the evenings we walked up the sand dunes to watch the sunset which was pretty cool, very pretty!! When we left we got a bus to lima and then a taxi to the airport, we arrive at 1am and waited around for our 6am flight to the amazon!!!!!!
