Were now off on our way down to Rochester, NY to stay with Liam and Dani for a few nights. Liam is Jodie's step brother but he has been living in America for a while so Jodie has yet to meet him, to say she is a little bit nervous is an understatement!
We arrange with Liam for him to pick us up at the Greyhound coach station for a certain time. We get there but there is no sign of him. Jodie asks the woman behind the counter where we were and it turns out that we are at the wrong Greyhound station!
Jodie is now panicking a little bit thinking that we are totally in the wrong place and in the middle of nowhere. Luckily enough Liam pulls up at the front and it turns out that the station address that is on our tickets has been demolished, handy that!
So on the way down to Liams house he informs us that Rochester is America's murder capital and that the station we were at was pretty much in the middle of two gangs that are fighting, glad Jodie didn't know this beforehand otherwise she would have been really panicing!
We arrive at Liam's bungalow and I have never seen a place like it. Dani is into her bats and darkness (blacks her favourite colour) so the whole place is kitted out. It's ace, you could stay there a week and still notice things on the wall that you hadn't seen before, it's like a themed hotel. Dani also has her 'babies' - the rats (s***, sorry Dad I mean the longtails!) she absolutely loves them.
That night we just sit in and chat and get to know each other. We order a few pizza's courtesey of Liam and Dani but we think the driver may have got stoned and ate them while he had the munchies, 2 hours after we ordered them they still hadn't arrived so we had to ring up and complain, they sent us more pizza's on the house!
Next day Liam was meant to go to work but as we were there and the World Cup was starting he decided to 'work' from home. By work I mean he turned on his laptop, played Wii with me and then took us out!
We sat in all morning and basically picked up where we left off the night before and just talked none stop.
Later in the afternoon Liam took us around to the 'finger' lakes. These lakes and in the shape of a hand and each lake is thin and narrow i.e like fingers. The lakes are really nice, there are boat rentals and beaches down the side of them and the houses surrounding them are huge. One of the houses near us is owned by Alec Baldwin.
We go back to the bungalow and have another night of chats and watch films.
On our last day Liam had to actually do some work and not just chill out with us so that meant we spent the day with Dani. She does web designing, art and also runs her own website so she showed us around her office. The whole place is so cool, she has big boxes of her art things that she has drawn which are really smart and she has all kind of random things hanging off the roof.
That night Liam and Dani took us to the Plum Garden, a Japanese restaurant. The chef comes out and cooks all the dishes in front of you. When he cooked the vegetables he stacked them all up and lit the middle making a volcano in front of us. Then while they cook the steak they pour all kinds of fluid on the worktop so when it lights it erupts into massive flames, some warning could have been nice, me and Jodie shat ourselves! Think you could spot the newbies from a mile off!
After the meal we went back to the house and again sat up into the early hours talking. We really hit it off with Liam and Dani and wished we had stayed for a few more days but we will see them soon enough at the wedding.
Oh well on to Florida for a couple of weeks for us now!
