Skimming through my last entry, I am amazed at how much has happened since then! I'll start with the several new photo albums I've added since that entry:
*Greenwich/Yiota's Birthday: For Yiota's birthday in August we spent the day in Greenwich where we (among other things) visited the Prime Meridian. We then relaxed in Starbucks until it was dark so we could take in the London lights (Big Ben, Parliament, Tower Bridge).
*More Campus: On the one August day with weather that actually felt like August (it was a cool, wet summer in London) Yiota and I took some photos around campus. All of the flowers they planted for Graduation Week were still blooming so the campus looked nice--well, except for the nasty, green pond.
*Sangria Night: When Yiota had to push back her flight home from Friday to the following Monday, she decided to have one more Flat 36 gathering and organized a Sangria Night. I was exhausted since I had been moving all day to get most of my stuff to the new flat (I think we started at something crazy like 5 am getting things ready for the man in a van we hired) but still enjoyed the evening. The night ended with everyone exchanging home contact information so when we travel to each other's countries we can find our tour guide/hostess!
*This & That: These are just some random photos from the past few months. There are a few from my trip with Tim and Julie to visit Tim's parents in Solihull. I also included a few from the par-tay I had while I was home in September.
So, as most of you know by now, I have decided to stay in London for another year. Under the International Graduates Scheme I qualify for a one year work visa when my student visa expires in January. I figured that this was an opportunity I just couldn't pass up. I was home for about two and a half weeks in September and had a great time catching up with family and friends and experiencing a little bit of Americana (including a wicked trip to Cedar Point and some bargain-filled shopping trips). While I was home I also completed my dissertation (WOOHOO!) and submitted it the same day I landed back in London. It feels so good to be done with it. Now I just have to wait until December to get my official results. I have not started working yet, but will hopefully be beginning as an ABA tutor working with autistic children in the next couple of weeks. I have been keeping busy getting settled in my new flat, going to several markets around London and spending time with friends still living in and around London. I will be back in the States again for Christmas (for about 3 weeks!) and I'm looking forward to having some free time then to catch up with everyone I didn't have a chance to see in September.
And that, in a nutshell, is what I've been up to since August!
