Day 26/27/28 - Downtown LA/Over the Pacific/Sydney
Well today is the day of the massive 15 hour flight to Sydney. The flight isn't till 10:30pm so we have a full day to kill, we have a bit of a lie in as we're not gonna get much sleep later. we head out for some breakfast/dinner when we do eventualy get up and then check out but decide to stay in the hotel and research our Oz trip and also decide what we're doing when we get to Bali.
Eventualy we decide we're bored of the hotel and to jump in a taxi to LAX and get checked in early so it's out of the way. We head straight for the bar as we have about 6 hours to kill before the plane.
After about 8 beers we're boarding the plane bit gutted to be leaving California as we've had a fantastic time in all the places we've been and will definately be coming back here 1 day, wasn't a single day we didn't enjoy here but next part of the trip should also be quality so atleast we have something to look forward too
We're flying with Quantas who i've been told are good, they're a bit like BA massive seats, your own computer/tele thing in back of the chair infront, choice of food from a menu so it shouldn't be to bad a flight. An hour after take off true to form Rhona is catching flies and i'm sat on my own flicking through the tv shows n films, i watch an entire season of the American Office and new series of Entourage then the Hangover so i was laughing my head off for hours as everybody else on the plane was sleeping, i did try to sleep but couldn't (never can on planes!) Eventualy we're landing, 15 hours is a huge amount of time to be sat on a plane and i think any future flights of that length will be broken into 2!
We arrive at Sydney grab the bags and head outside and it was freezing cold and lashing it down with rain, it felt like i'd landed at Manchester airport (the fact we'd just left a 30 degree LA to this made it worse) i decide it's just me being over tired and moody and crack on. We jump on the shuttle bus with a few other couples and it eventually drops us off at our place (Rush hour in sydney is a nightmare!) Our room wasn't yet ready so we head out for food and for a walk around where we're staying (Near Kings cross) We can see the Bridge and the Opera house from the end of our road.
As the rain starts tipping down again we head back and catch up on some well deserved sleep and decide to write the rest of the day off and start our Sydney journey off properly tomorrow. After a few hours kip we head for some quick pizza then try stay awake but fail miserably and are soon in the land of nod. Tomorrow we'll give this place a proper chance when hopefully the body clocks are sorted (Going from -8 to +9 hours and losing a day is hard!)
