Hello dear readers!
I dont really remember where I ended my story last time, so Ill start with my arrival in Cairns after my overnight bus from Townsville. It was 05.45 in the morning and I had a really sore neck from sleeping on my own shoulder.. After getting in a taxi and finding my hostel I find out that its locked behind gates and I obviusly did not have the code to get in.. After sorting that bit, with an awkward phonecall, and waiting for the reception to open I had to wait still to get my bed.. I slept on a futon untill I got in to my room. Very exciting! Later that day I arranged to meet up with the Norwegian guy I met on the bus to Townsville earlier that week. He showed me around downtown Cairns and we finally ended up in the mall, because the weather sort of made us seek shelter (if you're not aware there has been a cyclone making it way from Cairns and down the east coast of Australia, it was called Oswald)... Later that day we had dinner with a bigger group before calling it a night.
Next day it was time for me to start my open water diving course with Pro Dive! I was reallllly excited!!:D We had to do a medical to ensure we were fit for diving. The nurse did what we as nurses are not supposed to do.. She went "oh, I think I have to do that again..." obviusly I went "ehm, is everything allright??" after testing my ears over and over she replies "yeah, the doctor will probably have a chat to you about that. You can go back and eat the rest of your lunch and we'll call you back in a bit.". Enjoy your lunch?? I was so nervous I swollowed the sandwich and sat there as a wreck thinking I wasn't gonna be able to dive. Finally in the doctors office he says "you are good to go, no problems at all. I don't know why she would say that..". Thanks. After our two days in the pool, training we were set to go out on the boat and dive, unfottunately Oswald planned otherwise.. We did go out on Saturday instead of the Friday and got a night out in Cairns instead!:) Finally on the boat I experienced a bit of sea sickness.. To my relieve I could sleep through it and you would find me sleeping anywhere on the boat deck going out to the reef. The diving itself was amazing! We did three dives te first day and another three the second day. I can't wait to go again!!:) Comming back to Cairns we had to celebrate our certification, obviusly..
Next morning I got picked up to go for a two day one night trip to Daintree Forest, the oldest living rainforest on the planet. I offcourse fell asleep on the bus and missed most of the guiding on the way in.. We did a croc'cruise on the Daintree river, but saw no crocs.. after this we were driven into the jungle and got left in the rain. At this hostel I got eaten by mozzies, I almost stepped on a snake(!!!) and a mouse ate my phonecharger.. Great times. We were all relieved to be picked up in the morning to go back to Cairns. The best of this trip was that I met some awesome peolpe and I got to swim in mossman gorge!:) My last night in Cairns was spent doing laundy and then I packed my stuff and readied myself for leaving this amazing country. I will be coming back, believe you me!!
Well guys, thats it for Aussie, I survived!! No snakebites or spiderbites, no crocks ate me and I did not get attacked by a shark or a cassowary. Time to go to the much safer New Zealand!
Cheerio!:)
